2005
PLAYER'S PLAYER SUMMARY
The Club held its second Annual Player's Player award on Saturday 27 August
2005, marking the end of the minor round. After the success of 2004's
event, much work had gone into making it the most prestigious of the events
on the Club calendar.
A Club record of 40 members & guests ventured to the Historian Hotel
for dinner and a show - and what a show it was. The crowd was treated
to Palky & Big A's slick efforts with game summaries and votes for
each team, tension building all the while.
Toddy's visual Spectacular! was a marvel, with scrolling messages, player
photos (real and novelty) and comments; and of course, the all important
voting:
In the A's, Big A held off the Excitement Machine by a slim margin for
the 2nd year running to take the A's title by 2 votes.
In the B's, Velvet Sam had to fight off Papa Phil & Dangerous Stu,
before taking the crown by 0.4 of a vote.
In the C grade, Magic James was a clear favourite but was under strong
competition from Flair, and from BB, who polled well in the limited games
he played, Magic by a little over 2 votes
In the D grade, it was a fierce contest, with Rock N Roll Heylen, Enforcer
Lunn, Old School Tye, and Knightsy all pushing for overall hounours, Lunny
holding the competition at bay to win by 3.
And in the E's, the clear favourite Gifthorse had it in the bag, despite
good performances by Brownie and Dillon Hayden.
The final standings and the wonderful photo of Hurburglar can be seen
below.
And not to be outdone, BB won
the Bad Tie Competition after the nod from the ladies.
Thanks to all who came and
supported the Club and the event.
Special thanks to all of the
vote counters; to Big A, Palky, and G-Nat for all of their efforts in
pulling the night together, and particularly to Toddy for his programming
genius.
